Pattern Roots Mushroom

There's something wonderful about mushrooms. The part we recognise is only the fruit; beneath our feet lies an extraordinary hidden network, quietly connecting and nourishing the natural world. We're rather fond of things like that.

Inspired by the curious beauty of fungi, Jo created this collection using hand-drawn illustrations layered with found patterns, vintage textures and carefully gathered antique fragments. The result is a series of playful, richly detailed autumnal cards that celebrate the strange, the beautiful and everything in between.

The tops of these colourful mushrooms are collaged using the backs of old playing cards, cut with pinking shears to add an element of contrast. For the base, Jo drew the mycelial network in pencil on antique paper.
